Warranty & Performance

EMIT Technologies, Inc. warrants that goods supplied by EMIT Technologies, Inc. will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for the warranty periods specified herein, beginning on the date of shipment unless otherwise stated.

This warranty does not apply to defects or failures resulting from:

  • Improper installation
  • Improper use or operation
  • Neglect or inadequate maintenance
  • Unauthorized modification or repair
  • Operation outside specified design limits
  • Buyer-supplied drawings, specifications, plans, or instructions
  • Environmental or operating conditions beyond product design parameters

EMIT Technologies, Inc. shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or lost-production damages associated with product failure or system downtime.

Controls & Electronics Warranty

Controls, electronic modules, instrumentation, and associated electrical components supplied by EMIT Technologies, Inc., including Dynamic Control Touchscreen (DCT), Brain controllers, sensors, and SCR dosing controls, are warranted for a period of twenty-four (24) months from date of shipment against defects in materials and workmanship.

This warranty excludes:

  • Damage caused by improper wiring or installation
  • Physical abuse or mishandling
  • Water intrusion not caused by manufacturing defect
  • Damage caused by power surges, improper grounding, or external electrical faults
  • Sensor contamination or calibration drift resulting from field conditions

DCT / EMIT Connect Addendum

Any Dynamic Control Touchscreen (DCT, 20370-*) operating as part of an active EMIT Connect telematics subscription shall receive an additional three (3) years of warranty coverage for a total warranty period of four (4) years from date of shipment.

During years two (2) through four (4), warranty coverage is limited to repair or replacement of the module and return ground shipping only.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Broken or damaged glass
  • Physical abuse or mishandling
  • Improper installation
  • Environmental damage outside product specifications

Structural Components Warranty

Structural components supplied by EMIT Technologies, Inc., including exhaust housings, SCR housings, silencers, piping assemblies, weldments, frames, and support structures, are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of thirty-six (36) months from date of shipment.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Corrosion caused by external environmental exposure
  • Damage resulting from improper installation or unsupported piping
  • Thermal shock or abnormal thermal cycling
  • Vibration-induced cracking caused by external system conditions
  • Coating discoloration or cosmetic surface degradation
  • Damage resulting from operation outside specified temperature limits

Catalyst Performance Warranty

Catalyst elements supplied by EMIT Technologies, Inc., including oxidation catalyst and SCR catalyst systems, are warranted for:

  • Two (2) years from installation, or
  • Seventeen thousand (17,000) operating hours,

whichever occurs first.

Catalyst performance warranties apply only when systems are:

  • Properly installed
  • Properly maintained
  • Operated within specified design conditions
  • Used with approved fuels, lubricants, and exhaust conditions

Coverage includes:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Catalyst substrate structural integrity
  • Catalyst performance capability under compliant operating conditions

This warranty does not guarantee regulatory compliance under all field operating conditions.

Oxidation Catalyst Operating Requirements

Catalyst performance using an EMIT air/fuel ratio controller depends upon properly defined set-points, engine tuning, operating conditions, and fuel gas composition.

Air/fuel ratio controller performance is guaranteed for fuel gas with HHV content up to 1400 BTU/SCF unless otherwise specified.

The oxidation catalyst performance warranty shall not cover:

  • Excessive ash masking caused by low-load operation
  • Improper engine maintenance
  • Inappropriate lubrication oil
  • Continuous engine misfire
  • Excessive exhaust temperatures
  • Catalyst poisoning or contamination

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Minimum converter inlet temperature: 700°F
  • Maximum converter inlet temperature: 1150°F

If a high-temperature shutdown switch is not installed, thermal deactivation above 1300°F is not covered.

Catalyst conversion efficiencies apply to engine loads between 50% and 100%.

Engine lubrication oil requirements:

  • Ash content less than 0.6% by weight
  • Maximum oil consumption: 0.01 gal/bhp-hr
  • Maximum catalyst ash loading: 350 g/m³

Phosphorous and zinc additives are limited to 0.03% by weight.

SCR System Warranty & Operating Requirements

SCR catalyst performance depends upon:

  • Proper engine tuning
  • Exhaust temperature management
  • DEF quality
  • Proper DEF dosing operation
  • NOx sensor calibration
  • Operation within specified design conditions

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) must meet ISO 22241 standards.

The SCR warranty does not cover failures or degradation caused by:

  • Contaminated or improper DEF
  • Improper DEF storage or handling
  • DEF crystallization
  • Sulfur contamination
  • Oil fouling
  • Ammonia salt deposits
  • Water intrusion
  • Thermal shock or thermal runaway
  • Excessive exhaust temperatures
  • Engine-out NOx levels exceeding system design basis
  • Catalyst poisoning agents

Known catalyst poisoning agents include, but are not limited to:

  • Iron
  • Nickel
  • Sodium
  • Chromium
  • Arsenic
  • Zinc
  • Lead
  • Phosphorous
  • Silicon
  • Potassium
  • Magnesium
  • Copper
  • Tin
  • Mercury

Total poison concentrations in the exhaust stream are limited to 0.3 ppm unless otherwise specified.
